The prefix “hyper-” derives from the Greek prefix “ὑπερ-” which means “beyond” or “over”. For over 30 years this technology has had tremendous influence. Links (also known as hyperlinks) are really important — they are what makes the Web a web. HTML would not be what it is without it.

It is possible to admire some of the history and the links at hand, from the 1989 proposal by one of the creators of linked documents as we experience it. Just think of how many important events have been mediated through hyperlinks!

Prometheus steals fire and gives it to humanity. In context compared to Tim Berners-Lee giving hyperlinks to the world just because of the massive influence it had
